Sandra Palma Saleiro (sandra.saleiro@iscte-iul.pt) holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, is an assistant professor at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and a researcher at CIES-Iscte – Center for Research and Studies in Sociology. She is the vice-director of the Sociology Bachelor’s Program and a member of the Scientific Council of the Department of Sociology. She has worked on research projects regarding gender, gender equality, and gender-based violence; transgender identities and gender diversity; social inequalities, poverty, and social exclusion; and evaluation methodologies, as well as the evaluation of public policies, programs, and projects. In her doctoral thesis, titled “Trans Genders: A Sociological Approach to Gender Diversity,” she mapped the diversity of (trans)gender identities and expressions in Portuguese society.
