Sofia Gomes is a PhD candidate in Sociology at ISCTE-IUL. She completed her Master’s in Sociology at ISCTE-IUL in 2020 and her Bachelor’s in Public Administration and Management at the University of Lisbon - Institute of Social and Political Sciences in 2002.Currently, she works as a Research Assistant and Guest Lecturer at ISCTE-IUL, where she teaches various courses within the Transversal Skills Laboratory (LCT).Her academic focus is in the field of Social Sciences, specifically in Sociology, with an emphasis on Inequalities, Social Exclusion, and Education.She is conducting her PhD research on the integration of non-traditional students in higher education, titled “Integration and Empowerment of Adults in Higher Education - A Case Study on Students Over 23 at ISCTE-IUL.”The scientific research developed during her Master's degree is titled "Being Homeless, Social Capital, and Exclusion: An Ethnographic Study in the City of Lisbon."
