CIES-Iscte made a notable contribution at the 13th Congress of the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS), held from July 8 to 11, 2025, at the University of the Azores in Ponta Delgada.

Under the theme “Democracies on Trial: Risks and Uncertainties,” the congress gathered hundreds of researchers to address the numerous challenges confronting democracies today. The substantial representation of CIES researchers from various thematic areas highlighted the diversity, quality, and significance of the scientific output produced by the centre.

The CIES team engaged in thematic panels, organized and moderated sessions, and participated in round tables, covering a wide range of topics such as social inequalities, migration, youth, education, work, gender, civic participation, and digital culture.

This extensive participation underscores CIES-Iscte's dedication to critical reflection and scientific dialogue regarding contemporary social issues, playing a pivotal role in fostering discussion within the sociology community in Portugal. The full program is available for review here.
