Almeida
is
a
Sociologist,
PhD,
with
background
in
communication.
Researcher
at
Center
for
Research
and
Studies
in
Sociology
CIES-Iscte
and
Senior
project
manager,
coordinator
at
Gavi,
the
vaccine
alliance.
She
has
developed
academic
and
technical
research
on
migration,
refugees
women
and
girls
(Cies_Iscte),
health-related
behavior
(UNICEF
and
Cies),
communication
and
human
rights
(Ulusofona)
with
qualitative
and
quantitative
methods.
Sofia
has
been
working
in
Social
and
Behavior
Change,
advocacy
and
communication

international
development

emergencies
with
the
United
Nations
and
International
NGOs
since
2011.
A
large
part
of
the
research
involves
fostering
social
and
behavior
change
driven
by
evidence
from
the
field.
Her
recent
work
builds
on
the
intersection
of
participatory
research
methods
and
multistakeholder
approach
to
increase
the
uptake
of
health
services
and
intercultural
integration.
Sofia
also
developed
professional
activities
as
a
journalist
and
manager
in
the
private
sector
(1997-2010).
